Ma asks Lola whether there is something about herself she has never fully accepted. Lola’s answer leads them towards a shared uncertainty: how can anyone know where the genuine self ends and the performance begins?

From there, the conversation moves towards intuition, God and anamnesis, the unsettling sensation that some truths are not learned, but remembered.

Perhaps authenticity is not the absence of performance. Perhaps it is becoming aware of it.
